Hank was born in Sibley, Iowa on August 07, 1911, moved with his family to Clearwater, CA (now Paramount, CA) in 1936, where he lived for the last 65 years. Hank was a proud member of "The Greatest Generation", and served his country in the US Army during WWII. As a Lt. in "C" Company/612th Tank Destroyer Btn, Hank was in constant combat from D-Day +3 until the end of the war. He was a veteran of five major campaigns during that time: D-Day, Brest, Northern France, Battle of the Bulge and the Rhineland Campaign. He returned home unscathed, and married the love of his life Elizabeth Jane Thompson in 1946. Hank and Betty have three daughters, six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who, along with Betty, survive Hank. Hank worked for the Paramount Water Company until his retirement, but that did not stop him from being active. At the age of 74, when most of us hope to spending time relaxing, Hank was elected to the Paramount City Council where he served his community for 17 years. He holds the state record for being the oldest sitting city council member, at 91 years old. During his council years, Hank was active in the League of Contract Cities, Vector Control District and SEACA, the animal control organization. Up until Hank went into the hospital on August 5th, he remained active in Paramount affairs and still went to the Vector and SEACA meetings faithfully. He was a very special man, loved by so many and will always be rememberd for his kind ways and decency to all he met.
